Infanticide, abortion, and euthanasia are three of the most contentiously debated topics today. There are reasons why these are debated against—the two opposing sides are both, on the surface, very credible and probable. As a strong proposition for euthanasia, I will rebut against the common cons of euthanasia.

1. Opposition 1: Palliating technology has developed over the centuries, and euthanasia is simple just not the solution.

“Palliating technology” might have developed significantly over the past decades; even with the power to alleviate pain, many still feel pain. Palliating technology only deals with physical pain, and it gives the notion to the patients that another severe pain is waiting when the effect of the pill (made by the “palliating technology”) is gone. Psychological pain cannot be assuaged by such technology. The way to end all sorts of suffering is through euthanasia only.

2. Opposition 2: Euthanasia only discourages people from thinking that there is hope. Death becomes an irreversible sentimental choice.

The debate is about if doctors should be ultimately allowed to practice euthanasia. Even though a person might have a choice to euthanasia, if he or she has any splint of hope of getting better in the future, doctors will prevent him from taking such a radical solution. With the opinions and helps of other people, euthanasia will not become an irreversible sentimental choice. Also, as death is a choice that one cannot make so hastily, it will never become along the subjects of sentimentality.

Legalizing euthanasia, of course, should be overlooked gravely, as death is not a subject that cannot be dealt lightly. The BBC article, although on the pro side of the debate, supports involuntary euthanasia, in which doctors ultimately will have power to withdraw from euthanasia treatment.
